Man listen!!! If you caught Mona's new reality show Sorority Sisters, you already know it was bad!!! Real bad. I only watched it because I wanted to give it a chance but needless to say I will not be tuning in or reviewing that one. #justlame Anyway the people weren't having it either and hit up major advertisers via twitter to let them know just how serious they were about it getting this mess off our televisions! The hashtag #BoycottSororitySisters actually gained the attention of these advertisers and companies and some have cut ties or are in the process of cutting ties with the show. Hallmark, Crayola and Honda were first to pull their ads from the new VH1 series.
The Washington Post:
Several other advertisers including Honda, Crayola, and JBL, a subsidiary of Harman International, have also said they are pulling their ads from the show. State Farm has responded to inquiries saying that they do not air commercials during Sorority Sisters. This is serious. I'm gon need to see more hashtags in the future for the rest of this bs they try to shove down our throats. Mona you've been warned!!! LOL You can read The Washington Post's full article here!
“Sorority Sisters” chronicles the lives of nine Atlanta area women who belong to black sororities. And it became the target of protests and anger before it even aired.
Reception to the show’s trailer, which was released in June, was so negative that it was pulled off the Internet. The first episode — full of the sort of name-calling, fighting and vaguely manufactured drama we’ve come to expect from this strain of reality television — only fanned the flames of outrage.
