And the Sorority Sisters curse continues: Five cast members expelled from Delta Sigma Theta!

Well Damn Mona!!! Can we say EPIC FAIL!!! Omg I could only stomach one episode and that was because I was forcing myself to give it a chance. As you all know the series abruptly ended as VH1 had a marathon of the remaining shows this past Friday. After losing sponsors after it's premiere episode and now this news of cast members expulsion it's safe to say this was a bad idea for all parties involved. #trainwreck

AJC Reports:
Five members of Delta Sigma Theta were expelled permanently from the sorority for their participation on the reviled VH1 reality show set in Atlanta “Sorority Sisters.” (You can see the list here.)
- Lydia Mitchell and Priyanka Banks from Alabama State University, Montgomery, AL
- MeToya Monroe, State University of West Georgia, Carrollton
- Adrene Ashford from Marietta
- Shanna McCormick from Nashville
Their expulsion date of January 13 coincided with the day VH1 changed its schedule and dumped the show’s final three episodes unceremoniously this past Friday. It came a day after it was reported two others – April McRae and Joy Hammond – were suspended for 18 months from Alpha Kappa Alpha. If more than half the cast of nine was no longer technically part of a sorority, that more or less negated the whole concept of the show.
What a mess? Hopefully Mona and the ladies of Sorority Sisters will do better. You can read the rest of the article via AJC!

Update via AJC:

Exclusive: ‘Sorority Sisters’ Priyanka Banks ‘baffled’ by expulsion, has no regrets!

So AJC interviewed cast member Priyanka Banks and here's a snippet of what she had to say about being expelled permanently from Delta Sigma Theta...

How are you feeling right now?
I am a little disappointed in my organization. Most of the time, when someone is expelled, it is a process. But I never received a letter telling me anything.
So how did you find out about the expulsion?
I found out through the Internet. It was shocking. I can’t say I am hurt, because the organization is made up of people and people are hateful. I can’t be surprised, but I was baffled.
What disappointed you most about it?
The domino effect. We have sorors  — Deltas — who were making death threats against us. That was common knowledge. So if you know we were getting death threats, why wouldn’t you punish those who were doing that to us? Why wouldn’t you investigate that?

Honestly i think the expulsion was a bit harsh. I mean to cancel the show is one thing but to kick them out of the organization just because they were on tv? Ummm alrighty!

It's a Wrap: 106th and Park goes DIGITAL!

It's official. After 14 years on the air B.E.T. finally axes the 106th and Park, well sorta. It's no secret that the show was struggling. I don't think I cared beyond the moment AJ and Free departed.

B.E.T.'s official announcement:
"America’s No. 1 music variety show on cable television, 106 & PARK, will host its final daily on-air show on December 19, 2014, concluding its impressive 14-year run. The 106 & PARK brand remains strong and will continue to produce various specials throughout the year, including its annual New Year’s Eve show, 106 & PARTY, along with live event experiences at the BET Awards and BET Experience. In 2015, 106 & PARK looks forward to continuing its reign as the hottest hangout on one of the coolest digital platforms, BET.com.
Stephen Hill, BET's President of Music Programming and Specials, had this to say about the show:
AJ accepting Janet Jackson’s challenge to…dance. Bow Wow laying that kiss on Tyra Banks (or was it the other way around?). Free crawling around the set LIKE Catwoman WITH Catwoman Halle Berry. Julissa’s taking over Halloween as “Wonder Woman.” Keshia brilliantly bonding with First Lady Michelle Obama. Paigion flying around the world with Rihanna on a 777. Rocsi salsa dancing with Victor Cruz and putting him to shame. Shorty and Ms. Mykie’s killer rap, “The History of Justin Timberlake,” visably thrilling JT himself. Terrence beatboxing while Jamie Foxx rhymed. Tigger making Tom Cruise do the of-the-moment “motorcycle dance.”
We all have our favorite moments from the show that has put youth culture on television daily since the first year of this century. We have pride in being involved with the show that has welcomed almost every movie star, music superstar and fresh-faced talent you can name (you can even throw in a first lady). We’ve all laughed with and been entertained by the young men and women hosts that have charmed us at 6 p.m. (and more recently 5 p.m.) each weekday.
All of us have been touched by 106 & Park.
Now it’s time for 106 & Park, as a daily TV entity, to take a bow and exit."
